Happy Hour: Sun, Swimsuits and Staycations

It’s that time of year again. We’re in the dog days of a sweltering summer and all we want to do is book a staycation here in Phoenix and plant ourselves next to a pool with a good book, some sunscreen and a cocktail.

Luckily, we have some of the best hotel pools that cater to every type of guest, whether you’re a family with a few kids who want to speed down a water slide, or a young professional just looking to socialize and get a little sun.

Hotel Palomar Phoenix at CityScape

Located on the third floor of the Hotel Palomar Phoenix at CityScape, this pool has great views of Phoenix to enjoy while sipping a drink from the third-floor rooftop bar, Lustre. With cabanas and lounge chairs aplenty, the relaxing and conversational atmosphere of this pool can’t be beat.  Not only can guests lounge and swim, but there’s also a hip scene to take in that includes a weekly DJ and weekend punch brunch at both at Lustre as well as Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails.

Though Lustre is open to the public, the pool is only available for guests, so be sure to book a room at downtown Phoenix’s newest hotel!

Pointe Hilton Resort Squaw Peak
We know this pool is one of the best because AZCentral.com critics and readers said so! With a 130-foot water slide for both kids and adults to zoom by on, a lazy river for a relaxing break from the fun, and waterfalls that evoke the feeling of faraway islands, this pool has it all. Named the Hole-in-the-Wall River Ranch, this wet recreational area has something for everyone.

The pool is only open to resort guests, but people can buy day passes during the week while they are available.

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs
With more than one pool to choose from, the Falls Water Village boasts acres of whirlpools, private cabanas and a 138-foot water slide. There is also the Cascades Café for those hungry swimmers who need sustenance and for summery drinks that are a perfect accessory to lounging.

The cabanas sprinkled in Falls Water Village are fit for a king and include a ceiling fan, television, telephone, a table and chairs, electrical outlets, and a mini refrigerator. The luxury of these cabanas just beckon us to hang out in them during summer afternoons.

This collection of pools is only open to resort guests, but people can buy day passes during the week while they are available.
